3 MISTAKES I REGRET

Hey everyone!

I regret these 3 harmful mistakes more than anything:

1/ BETA-BLOCKERS ON AND OFF

Several doctors told me that I could take beta-blockers intermittently. In other words, you can take a beta-blocker “as needed” on some days and not others. Or abruptly stopping a beta-blocker that you have been taking for some time.

The results, for me, were catastrophic. Tachycardia, uncontrollable rise in blood pressure, chest pain due to pericarditis. And it was hell to restore the situation to a tolerable level!!

2/ COLLAGEN

I was told to take collagen in natural form. Hear, in the form of chicken broth or grandmother's broth, as it is often called.

Then I bought a Crock-pot to make my own broth because it has to cook over low heat for 12 hours.

It did not work. Then I took supplement of collagen in 250 mg capsules, which did not change anything either.

3/ CARDIAC REHABILITATION PROGRAM

For many physicians, heart problems still mean going to cardiac rehabilitation program. I went there 6 months after the start of my pericarditis when the inflammation was still very present, and it was a real disaster. My condition worsened for almost 3 months following this episode. Worst setback I've ever had.

It is not at all recommended to resume sports or cardiac rehabilitation exercises when the pericardium is still inflamed.

I WISH I KNEW:

•     It is necessary to take beta-blockers very regularly, that is to say every day at the same time (at breakfast). If necessary, cut them in 2 or 4 to gradually reduce the dose. Sticking to the 21-day rule is always a good idea.

•     I had to take 10 grams of marine collagen powder a day to have an effect on my pericarditis. Start by increasing the doses gradually because the body may have some difficulty absorbing it at first.

•     Instead of following a dangerous cardiac rehabilitation program in case of pericarditis, try to follow these 3 rules instead: daily walk, yoga and/or stretching, heart below 100 beats per minute.

As always, I embed links in the text so you can easily read blog posts that relate to the topics covered.

TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF, YOUR BODY AND YOUR MIND!

Pericordially yours,

Vali
