Light as a butterfly

Hey everyone!

Here are some tips to improve digestion when you have a chronic illness. Stomach heaviness after a meal can quickly become hell. So how do you feel light as a butterfly?

The food we eat is our fuel. It is needed by all cells in our body. So, if it is important to eat well, it is just as important to digest well. This aspect of the process should not be overlooked.

When I got sick, I quickly had digestive problems. I will never know if it is due to the disease itself or to the side effects of the drugs.

Simply, I offer you some avenues that you can explore if you suffer from stomach aches and other inconveniences after meals.

1/ HOT WATER BOTTLE

I had severe pain in my stomach within a quarter of an hour after my meal. I was very cold, as if my body temperature suddenly dropped. I also felt very tired, even downright dejected, and sometimes had headaches.

Digestion requires a lot of energy, so my weak state no longer allowed my body to maintain a high enough temperature to digest. It would seem that the stomach must be at least 40° C in order to be able to properly digest food and break down molecules in order to allow the body to absorb them.

The simple solution that gave me a lot of relief is to place a hot water bottle against your stomach for about 30 minutes after eating. Stomach aches disappear and digestion is improved because the stomach is at the right temperature without soliciting the body weakened by the disease.

2/ CIDER VINEGAR

Whether you have too much or too little acidity in the stomach, the symptoms are practically the same. That's good because organic unpasteurized cider vinegar is an acidity regulator. If the stomach has too much acidity, it lowers it. And if he has too little, it increases it.

I use it a lot in my salads. But it is also thanks to him that I managed to get rid of the antacid drugs that I had to take in high doses to protect my stomach when I took anti-inflammatories. It is sometimes difficult to stop them because the body has become accustomed to the medicine. The method that worked for me is to replace the antacid with a glass of water with a teaspoon (or more if you can tolerate it) of apple cider vinegar 15 minutes before each meal (yes, even before breakfast!). You quickly get used to the taste. It's a matter of mindset. To stay consistent and encourage myself, I said to myself: “Come on! A little apple aperitif! »

It went better that way. And after 6-8 weeks I was able to quit and was effectively off the hard to quit antacid meds.

3/ BETAINE HCL AND ENZYMES

Currently, I take dietary supplements with enzymes that improve digestion, and betaine HCL when I eat more protein.

I also took vitamin B complexes which help with digestion, but I no longer take them.

Know that it exists, but do not self-medicate with this kind of supplementation. Always consult your doctor and ask for a medium or long-term follow-up.

My digestion has improved, and I have been able to gain some weight over the past few months. Dietary deficiencies improve, and at the same time, I find a little more energy.

It took a long time, but I feel like I can see the end of the tunnel for this aspect of the disease.

TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF BECAUSE THERE IS LITTLE CHANCE THAT SOMEONE ELSE WILL DO IT FOR YOU.

Pericordially yours,

Vali
