#7-ABOUT BEING POSITIVE

Smile, you are beautiful!

Hey everyone!

Do some people say that you can be cured by being positive?

I do not know! For me, and this is only my opinion, being positive with chronic illness doesn’t mean being happy. It rather means staying in the gray area. The lightest gray area possible.

The pain and loneliness of a long-term illness can plunge you into the deepest, darkest state of mind. And you don’t want to sit there just because it’s uncomfortable. That’s all! No overthinking about that. For me, the question is: how do I get out of the darkness as fast as possible?

I know I will not go to the top of the rainbow with a life full of colors and light and fun and joy…

You know what I mean, don't you. Pericarditis, chronic illness, or any serious health problem brings no happiness. But I know for sure that the best way to fight a disease is to stay in the lightest gray area possible.

This is why my affirmations are made. This is what "Stay positive!" means to me. Keep going. Keep fighting as hard as you can. No matter what happens. Never give up!

Face the pain. Coping with lack of sleep. Coping with the exhaustion and fatigue.

I supplement my diet with Omega 3 and CoQ10. I keep my daily routine on track. I rely on my support team. These are all the pieces of a complete puzzle called “Stay positive!”. Sometimes, if one piece is missing, it's enough to make me sink.

Being positive will not cure me or save me. But to be depressed in addition to the sickness and madness of pericarditis is definitely not what I need.

The last word is always love. Kindness to myself and to others is my choice. Some days, a forced choice. But a necessary choice for my well-being.

“Smile, you are beautiful!” is my go-to affirmation to end a hard day in a self-love way.

So, in case you need this today:

SMILE, YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL!

Pericordially yours,

Vali
